Pörner has been awarded the prize for Process Innovation at the MERCUR, the innovation award of the Wirtschaftskammer Wien. This reward honours Pörner's development of the BituBag.

Innovation of new means of transportation (BituBag) for the worldwide transport of Bitumen in cold condition at a cost reduction of up to 60 per cent compared to existing systems and ellimination of environmental pollution through contaminated metal barres. Filled and cooled by a process developed by Pörner, the world-wide leader for bitumen oxidation.

Pörner was approached by its customers to invent a more efficient solution for the transport and packing of bitumen, especially for road construction as an alternative to the metal barrels. Driving by this request Pörner developed the BituBag. During a three year research project Pörner has set up a colling- and filling unit, the bitumen bag as well as the corresponding melting unit on site.
