EDL supports young talents

The Learning Camp is intended to strengthen the interest in STEM fields and promote young talents.

On March 29, 2023, a group of schoolchildren from St. Augustin Grammar School in Grimma and Anton-Philipp-Reclam Grammar School in Leipzig visited EDL. Being part of the so-called Learning Camp the seventh and eighth graders had chosen the natural sciences module and got an insight in hydrogen and its applications. The Learning Camp for talented pupils is unique in Saxony and is intended to strengthen their interest in STEM fields and promote young talents.

After two-day, intensive preparation by teacher Vivian Hübner, the group of students gained an insight into practical applications for hydrogen at EDL on the third day of the Learning Camp. After an interesting presentation on hydrogen by Daniel Patzke, Process Engineer, Jan Schwartze, Director of Technology & Process, explained the complete process chain from electrolysis to the finished product – the eSAF (power-based sustainable avaition fuel) using the model of the HyKero plant.

The pupils’ enthusiasm for new processes was great and therefore EDL’s experts had to answer many questions. At the end of the week, the participants of the Learning Camp will present the knowledge they acquired to their classmates.

We are pleased that we have awakened young people’s interest in new technologies, the use of hydrogen and renewable energies. Perhaps the one or other among them will decide to study engineering subjects, or to do an internship at EDL first.

We very much thank Mrs. Vivian Hübner and Mr. Martin Reichel as well as their colleagues who make the Learning Camp possible and are also committed to promoting their pupils!
